Ngorongoro Crater

Overview

Ngorongoro Crater is one of Africa's most remarkable natural wonders — a vast volcanic caldera sheltering an incredible concentration of wildlife within its walls. Often called the 'Garden of Eden,' the crater floor spans 260 square kilometers and is home to approximately 25,000 large animals, including the Big Five. The steep crater walls create a natural enclosure, making this one of the best places in Africa for guaranteed wildlife sightings. The crater also supports Maasai communities who live in harmony with the wildlife on the crater rim.
